2K technology for injection moulding machines is well known, and in the beginning was mainly used with products in which the core and the exterior consisted of different materials.
2K technology for injection moulding machines is well known, and in the beginning was mainly used with products in which the core and the exterior consisted of different materials.
In the past few years there are more applications to inject different plastics into the same mould. The investment for such applications is substantially lower because only one machine (with two injection units) and one mould is needed. Also an assembling step can be skipped.
The 2K technology is in use on a large range of machines.
Applications however are not limited to technical products; Also the Stork S+ machine range for packaging applications can be equipped with a second injection unit.
For the development of a 2K application the machine manufacturer must be very flexible. The location of the second injection unit will be prescribed by the mould design and not by the available standard machine. The control program must be very flexible as well, because the course of the injection process is not always known in advance.
