The 4G-FD Demisting Cyclone is an axial (straight through), high performance separation device combining highly efficient droplet separation characteristics with important practical issues such as simplicity to install and non-clogging (minimum maintenance) properties. The cyclones can be utilised in any configuration in horizontal and vertical separators.
Particles enter the cyclone in the gas flow through the optimised swirl element, where the gas motion gradually transforms into a rotational motion. Under the influence of centrifugal forces, the particles are transported to the aerodynamically shaped body of the cyclone where they are separated.
The patented design solves known issues such as liquid-creep and introduces new features such as pre-separation in the swirl-element section, optimal fluid dynamic spin-up features due to the elimination of re-cycle flow in the centre of the cyclone and secondary separation features implemented in the drainage chamber, a feature eliminating known problems with liquid entrainment back into the cyclone from the drainage chamber.
In addition to separating small droplets and thus offering a highly efficient demisting solution, the 4G-FD Demisting Cyclones are designed to extend the operational flexibility of separators by eliminating foam to the downstream equipment (costly anti-foam chemicals can be reduced by 50-100%).
These important characteristics solve liquid carry over problems generated by secondary foam generation, a problem often seen in separation equipment, thus protecting downstream equipment e.g. compressors.
